Our Summer

Hello All!  Here is our summer in a nut shell...

 

This isn't technically from summer but just before summer started I was able to go to Fort Collins with Scot while he worked on a big project for work.  After he got off in the evenings we were able to go out on the town.  This night we were going to The Chocolate Café.  It is sooo yummy!!

 

In June we headed out to Denver for a Rockies game.  Let's be honest, the only reason I go to sporting events is to people watch and there was some GREAT people watching at this game.  The people that sat next to us alone were great entertainment!

Our 4th of July was spent at Memorial Park and it was soggy!  It rained nearly the whole time and it got CRAZY windy!  We even went back to our car at one point but then decided to go back and wait it out and I'm glad we did.  The rain finally stopped just in time for the fireworks and it was a great show!

In July we went to a Sky Sox game because my hometown Sacramento Rivercats were in town...and I accidentally wore my shirt backwards...oh and it was the most boring game ever!  We left early.

In August Scot's best friend Andy married an amazing girl named Jen and we were able to go to their wedding at the Denver Temple!

Also in August...I had a Birthday...and we went to Canon City and rode the Royal Gorge Train.  The weather was beautiful and we had a great time riding along in the open air car. We had a seat inside but it stank in that train!

 

Scot had a birthday in August that we were able to celebrate!  We went to The Melting Pot on his actual birthday and then the next day we went to Denver to see Peter and the Starcatcher.

 

 

And that was our summer!  Can't wait to see what Fall brings!



Visiting Phoenix

Scot and I love to travel and visit places we've never been. We have been talking about visiting Phoenix for a while now and we finally got the chance to do that this past weekend!  I am completely in love with Phoenix - I love the weather, there is great shopping there, tons of outdoor recreation, etc.  It's a great place.

 

We left on Thursday and stayed in Albucrackie which is about 1/2 way between The Springs and Phoenix.  Just past Pueblo I went to look at something on my phone when I realized that I had left it on the desk at the house.  Doh!  It was like the year 1998 all weekend without a phone.  At first I was like NOOOOOOO but then I realized...it was actually kinda nice.  On Friday we got up and took a slight detour so we could go to the Grand Canyon which was amazing!  When we were done there we headed over to our hotel in Scottsdale and once settled completely crashed. It was such a long day. 

 

Saturday morning we hiked Camelback Mountain (The Cholla Trail) where once we got to the top had a spectacular view of Phoenix.  It was about 97 degrees that day so we didn't hang out too much at the top.  We were ready to get back and swim for a bit.  After swimming we drove to downtown Phoenix to see what we could find there.  There wasn't anything that really made us want to get out of the car so we decided to go and check out the temple that is being built in Phoenix.  While we were standing outside of our car checking it out the security guard working that day opened the gate for us so we could get a better look which was very nice of her.  That night when we got back we got some dinner and walked around Old Town Scottsdale which was right across the street from our hotel.

 

Sunday we had tickets to Kartchner Caverns which is a beautiful cave down near Tucson.  It was quite a trek so we had to get up really early to make our reservation.  On the way home we stopped at In-N-Out burger for lunch!  Our favorite!  That afternoon was spent at the pool and then getting pizza and gelato for dinner. 

 

Monday was a lazy day.  We got up and went shopping at Fashion Square in Scottsdale, swam, shopped at West Elm and got DELICIOUS cupcakes from The Sweet Tooth Fairy!

 

It was such a fantastic trip!  I love Exploring a new city with my hubby.  He's the greatest traveling companion!  Love love love him!

My pictures won't even come close to doing this place justice but if you ever have the chance to go you should definitely go to the Grand Canyon!

 

 

This was about as close as I was going to let Scot get to the edge. There were some crazy people down below where this picture was taken that were sitting on the edge with their feet dangling.  It still gives me the willies to think about!

 

It's so spectacular.  When we first walked up I thought it looked fake.

 

 

You can't even imagine how big it is.  Look how far back that crack down the middle goes.  Insane!

 If you ever come across a Sweet Tooth Fairy you MUST go in.  These cupcakes are to die for!  Especially that Salted Carmel one.

 

 In addition to exploring Phoenix we were also celebrating our 8th anniversary! It's been an incredible 8 years. I could not have dreamt up a more loving, supportive and amazing husband. I love you Scoty and can't wait to spend the rest of eternity with you!

January 2013

So blogging...ya...I suck at it. 

So far 2013 has been a pretty fantastic year.  We are only a month in but so far so good. 

 

One Saturday morning we were working around the house and Scot looked out the kitchen window and this adorable little fox was sunbathing out back.  That's got to be a good omen for 2013 right?

We were able to hit up a Nuggets game when the soon to be non existent Sacramento Kings came in to town.  That's always a good time...even when the Kings lose...badly!!  I got to eat nachos though, and let's face it - that's all that REALLY matters. 

 

Also in January my bestie Mitzi came to town for a few days.  It was so much fun to see her and spend time shopping, crafting, chatting and of course watching T.V.  Doi! 

 

We had lunch at Cherry Cricket in Denver one day.  Always a good time.

I spilled alllll down the front of my sweater (shocker) so my large and in charge bag came in handy for covering that up.

 We walked through the Cherry Creek Mall in Denver and saw these big delicious looking chocolate covered strawberries in the window at Godiva and decided that we needed one of course.  Uhm shockingly to the both of us they were $7 a piece so of course it needed to be documented with a picture.

One day while Mitzi was here I said "Hey Mitzi, have you ever had Chick Fil A?"  She said "no, we just got one in Boise.  I've been wanting to try it."  So I was like "we should go there for lunch today."  So we did.  This is what I got (pay close attention to the fry in the front).

Ok - first blog of the year done and done!  Here's to 2013 and blogging it!

Hawaii - Day 8

Welp, here it is. Our last and final day in Hawaii!!  We had the whole day ahead of us before having to head back to the airport so we spent most of the morning moseying (I looked it up, this is an actual word and this is the actual spelling) around, eating a late breakfast, and taking in the last of the beach.  In the afternoon we decided to go to the Dole Plantation to kill the little bit of time we had left. 

We took a ride on the Pineapple Express.  Choo choo! It took us all around the fields and told us all about how Pineapples grow.

After the train ride we got some delicious pineapple soft serve!!

Once we were done with the Dole Plantation we still had more time so we headed back in to Waikiki and had dinner and did some last minute shopping before heading back to the airport.  Then it was a long night of flying for us!  We left Honolulu sometime between 10pm and 11pmish I can't really remember and didn't get back to Denver until 8:30ish in the morning due to a layover in L.A. and the time change.  For next time we will definitely be flying out in the morning!

And that my friends was our trip to Hawaii!  I mean seriously, it only took me an entire year to finish!!  Ha ha ha ha!  Best trip EVER!...or so far :).

Hawaii - Day 7

So here we are again...still trying to finish up Hawaii posts.  It's only taken me a year.  Geezzz!   I just wanted to be able to enjoy it for as long as possible! 

OK - Day 7...In my opinion, Day 7 was the best day!  I was able to do something I have wanted to do for my whole life!  It started out with another trip to Hanauma Bay for some snorkeling.  We wanted to see if we could get there on a warmer/sunnier day.  It was sunnier but a bit windy.

On our way to the next adventure we pulled off at this little outlook, looking over the ocean.  It was so beautiful.  The water was pefectly blue!

Now, on to the best part of the day and possibly the week...

Visiting the Sea Life Park where we swam with dolphins!

We started out our visit eating hot dogs and watching the dolphin show.

Next, we walked around and mostly just watched the sea turtles until it was our time to swim with the Dolphins.

I have wanted to do this for as long as I can remember and it was just as awesome as I had imagined!  We were able to pet her as she swam by.  She came up and gave each of us a kiss and then when it was your turn to take a ride - we swam out in to the middle of the pool.  You would put your right arm out to the side and clasp your left hand to your upper right arm.  Then Nani swam right behind you and you had to catch her fins and hold on tight.  It was soooooo amazing!!  One of the best things I've ever done!   Once everyone had their turn we all got goggles and were able to just swim around the pool while she swam around us.  Soooooo cool!

Scot wasn't so sure about it when I first started talking about doing this but he had a great time too! 

The setting of the park was amazing, in and of itself.  It was right on the ocean!  So perfect!

After the Sea Life Park it was time to head back to Waikiki.  Our last night in Hawaii!! We went back and walked along the beach and had some dinner and maybe even shed a tear or two that we would be leaving the next day.  Ok not really but I swear I could have if I had really wanted to!!
